Anniversary Dinner Suggestions?
My fiance and I will be belatedly celebrating our fourth anniversary this week, and I wanted to cook something a little different -- our "traditional" anniversary dinner is usually seafood alfredo, and I want to break away from that a bit. I've looked up recipes online, but there's such a wealth of options, I was hoping for a dish that other people have made/tried. I have some pretty good meats stashed away in the freezer for a "special occasion" -- steak, a duck breast and a whole chicken.
However, when it comes to things I need to buy like marinades or sides, I have to be pretty frugal. I'm a good cook and pretty creative, so I hopefully someone has cheaper suggestions I can turn into something fancy!
I'd really like to utilize the duck, but I'm not sure the portion is big enough for two people, or what sides go with it. I'd also be open to reinventions of the seafood alfredo (I just can't buy a lot of seafood like I'd normally do).
I would recommend a cheddar cheese fondue with some great french bread and mushroom, broccoli, asparagus, ravioli dippers and finish it off with a blackberry fondue and pound cake and seasonal fruit dippers.
