Lobster they sell alive for food, can they be pets ?
You know those live lobsters they sell alive for food and keep cramped in a tank, like at walmart. Can I buy one and keep it as a pet. And what will I need, like what type of tanks/environment, and food, and how to care for it. Also I heard someone had a pet lobster and fed them pet meaty dog biscuits, is this ok ?
Sure you could but it would cost a lot to provide it with the conditions that it requires. First off they are cold water marine animals that need water temps a lot cooler than you can keep in your house even without a heater. You would need some kind of chiller to keep the temp down in your tank. They are territorial so you would not wish to keep more than one in the tank. And I would not keep one in less than one hundred gallons of water.
I have kept fresh water "lobsters" which are actually crawfish. You might wish to check into keeping one of them instead of the expensive of keeping a real lobster in a tank.
