Questions about sending items to France?
I sell jewelry online. I just got a request for one of my pieces from France. My question is wither or not French customs will allow my item. It's a handmade polymer clay bead, painted with acrylics and finished with a gloss. It's also attached to a leather neck cord with silver lobster clasps?
I'm trying to look it up online but I'm not getting very far.
Yes they will allow it but the real issue is taxes. The recipient has to pay an import tax on the parcel if they receive something ordered outside of the European Union. You obviously don't want your customer to receive a bill from the French customs as they may not want to shop with you again in the future.
The only way to avoid this inconvenience for them is to pack it as a private parcel from a friend (no sticker stating your business name if you have one) and make sure you check the box that says "gift' on the sticker that USPS will put on the parcel (that's the most important thing, this is what will cancel their liability to import tax).
In other words, YOU risk nothing, on your end of things there is no problem, but for good business practice you should spare your buyer any bad surprise.

Found Lobster in Rain?!?
I live Michigan and we just got the after math of Hurricane Ike. I was out taking the garbage and found a small LOBSTER just walking by me!!! I was so surprised!?! We have lobsters here and its just walking around. I live by no steams or lakes. How could this be? Don't they live in salt water? Its smaller still. Can we keep it as a pet? What do I do? I went online and didn't find much about caring for them.Someone please tell me what to do and how to care for it?!?!

What you have is commonly called a crayfish. Other names are crawfish and crawdaddies. They are a freshwater crustacean but they hibernate by burrowing into moist soil away from water. The one you have probably was on his way to find a place to hibernate. They make good pets, and are easy to feed since they eat almost anything. A small aquarium filled with fresh water will suffice. If you have him in a dry container right now make sure you get him wet immediately. While they can live outside of water, they have gills so they need moisture to breathe. A wet sponge should keep him alive until you can set up an aquarium for it. Make sure you put some rocks or other hiding places for them since they like to hide. Don't put a heater in the aquarium, they aren't a tropical creature so they don't like their water very warm.

Oh, and one other thing. They are very good at getting out of an aquarium, so make sure you cover it with a screen.
