order fresh seafood

What should I order for dinner?
Italian Garden Salad:
Romaine Lettuce, Roma tomatoes, red onions, Klamata olives, Parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar & extra virgin olive oil.
with,
Beer Cheese Soup.
or
Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo:
Jumbo shrimp & sea scallops sauteed with fresh garlic, green onions & tomatoes then served over fettuccine in a creamy Parmeasan Alfredo sauce.
or
Bruschetta:
Grilled Ciabatta with basil pesto, Proscuitto Ham, Roma tomatoes and fresh Mozzeraella.
with
Calamari.
i just cant decide.
please help me..
mmmm that bruschetta with calamari sounds really good! Its the perfect balance of light and heavy. Sounds like a perfectly balanced meal!
The shrimp alfredo sounded great but then it's not as balanced.
And the salad/soup combo also sounded really good but not really a good option for dinner.
I say go for the last one! Its perfect!

what frozen fish is safe for sushi?
OK, i live in a city as far away from the coasts as possible (North Dakota). I have a few fairly large supermarkets near me with what they sell as "fresh fish" and frozen fish. I have been told flash-frozen fish would probably be safer than these fresh ones because of my location, and I don't have time to mail-order fish.
So of the types of commercially frozen fish i can get at the supermarkets near me, whats the safest to make sushi out of?
frozen seafood examples:
Tilapia
Salmon
Herring
Cod
Mahi Mahi
Swordfish
Halibut
i left out the obvious freshwater ones, since i have been told you NEVER want to eat those raw.
any suggestions from this list or other species i may run across?
None. Freezing changes the texture. The only way you even have a chance to have safe and fresh fish is to buy it from a trusted fish market. Supermarkets are no longer safe in the US since they buy food from China and as you know there is little testing and inspection for the last 8 years.
PS I would like to see the look on a Japanese person's face if you asked them that question! The whole point of sashimi is the fresh and delicate flavor of the ocean etc.
Also, a recent study in Seattle, found that 100% of wild salmon have round worm that can infect people. The Japanese are very particular which part of the salmon is used (Just the firm part of the tail). Americans not so much...

they should have been cleaned … de-gilled, liver and junk removed … by the people that were selling them.
i would order a pizza … cause the last thing you need is getting your "wonderful woman" sick!
seafood shouldn't taste "fishy", if it does that means it isn't fresh. If you don't like the look of fish try eating it in different ways. Canned salmon mixed with cream cheese, pepper, salt, fresh herbs, and lemon juice makes a great dip for crackers. Salmon and crab cakes are good, so are fish tacos. Use strong flavors with fish like malt vinegar, lemon juice or tabasco. Also try ordering or cooking fish with ingredients you like, nuts, onions, herbs, butter, whatever. Try grilled or smoked fish or scallops it adds a different texture and good flavor.
You are celebrating the end of summer in style! Wish I had a bowl of fresh seafood!!
De-lurking here. . .If you can make the time, you might want to make the drive up toward the DMZ. The standard and pace of living is quite different there than in most other places in Korea. The views of the water (ocean) are simply breath taking up there since the waters are heavily guarded/protected. You could also stop off at Seoraksan while you're in the general vicinity. It makes for a nice weekend driving trip. Another nice drive is down by Namhae – deliciously fresh seafood all along the way.

It has happened all over the USA,what was once a proud and honorable trade is now looked upon with scorn by the huddled masses of the citys and they push to get rid of us at every turn, there are very few fishhouses left in the entire state of Fla,instead we have condos and millions of recreational fishermen who want to take away your right for fresh seafood.
