Im looking for an inexpensive lobster/ seafood place in portland maine.?

Im goint to porland this weekend. i would like to enjoy a night out with my husband and have some lobster!!!! and crab! im having a hard time getting through all the ads online... have u ever been to portland and really enjoyed a comfrtable restraunt there? if so whats the name and was it comfortable and good prices?

I generally never eat lobster in a restaurant, it's way to easy to do yourself. All restaurants seem to way over charge for lobster. Point being, you don't need to go to a fancy restaurant to get a good steamed lobster.

Couple of older Portland restaurants you might consider - J's Oyster Bar - it was recently on the Diners Drive-ins and Dives show on the Food Network. There is also DiMilo's Floating Restaurant, which is actually in an old ferry tied up to a dock.

If you go out of Portland, not sure if these places are all open yet.

- Freeport - Harraseeket Lobster Company, is a restaurant right on a working fishermans dock.
- Cape Porpoise (near Kennebunkport) Nunan's lobster (on Rt9), is a little tiny BYOB place where you sit at picnic tables to eat your lobster.

The good news is that this is best time of year to eat Maine lobster, all the sters their catching now are hard shells, meaning their packed with meat. Need the tools to get at the goods.

You won't find crab so much. Crab cakes is about it.

Not sure about eating lobster in these places but other good/excellent restaurants in Portland are Street and Company and Fore Street.
